Real Bride Style: Genna & Fernando Part 2

Genna & Fernando celebrated their commitment in style with a sit down dinner for their 125 guests at The Tearoom, Queen Victoria Building.

The couple took advantage of the elegant surrounds, having photos on the grand staircase which showed off Genna's ivory lace Provonias gown with customised black velvet bow.
The gown was a happy reminder of their engagement with Genna first seeing the dress in Spain where Fernando proposed.
Black satin peep toes from Christian Louboutin completed the glamourous look.

The elegance and beauty of the room was enhanced by vintage grey glass candelabras Genna bought second hand and votive vases with white blooms.

Black and white grosgrain ribbon accentuated the beauty of the hydrangeas and peonys and guests were invited to share their well wishes for the couple in a personalised guestbook from Smythson of Bond Street.

The four tier cake perfectly complemented the black and white styling and featured flavoured layers of vanilla & rose petal, chocolate ganache and citrus & strawberry.

Bride and groom cookies from Cookie Couture doubled as place settings and favours for guests.

The couple's first dance completed a beautiful evening and we wish Genna & Fernando all the best for a long and happy life together.

Real Bride Style: Genna & Fernando Wed with a 50's Glamour Black & White Theme

I am so excited to share the stylish city wedding of a gorgeous former colleague.

Genna has an innately glamorous style I have always admired and I eagerly awaited her wedding pics knowing they would not disappoint!
Genna sought inspiration for her day from the pages of Amour Amour and I am honoured she is sharing her beautiful wedding day with us.

Genna began to plan her wedding after her fiancee Fernando proposed on the steps of the Cadiz Cathedral in the South of Spain last year with the date set for February 7th, 10 years and 1 day after they first met at St Bede's Catholic Church in the Sydney suburb of Pyrmont.

A heart shaped flower frame of hydrangeas with black and white grosgrain ribbon decorated the church.

From the black velvet bow on Genna's Provonias gown, to the 1950's vintage Givenchy inspired bridesmaids gowns, the chic black and white styling epitomised the theme of '1950's Glamour'.

The bride and her maids carried posies of hydrangeas, peonies, gardenias and roses.

Genna and Fernando didn't let the wet weather cramp their style with the rain and black umbrellas adding to the glam style.

Moroccan Wedding Blankets are sourced high in the Atlas mountains in Berber villages. They were made for Berber brides, who would wear them as capes to keep warm as they were walking to their new husband's house. The women in the bride's family would work on each one for months, using hand loomed sheep's wool and painstakingly adding round, metal sequins one by one, by hand. All that work takes a lot of time, so these precious creations were reserved for the best and most important day - the wedding.

Online stores like www.etsy.com have a multitude of beautiful and unusual items at a very low cost. You can find bridal party gifts, jewellery, a veil, a flower for your hair or cute and unusual wedding favours. If you plan ahead you can save lots of cash by ordering online. Explore other online retailers to see what other bargains you can find.
During the lead up to a wedding, people are constantly offering to help - take people up on these offers! Enlist your cousins to help you cut and fold invitations so that you can get them done without a professional, a handy aunt might be able to help make the centrepieces and your organised uncle can be in charge of the run sheet for the day instead of having to have a wedding planner. Also take people up on offers to lend you things like a veil or brooch to wear.

You can purchase a gown from a top designer that you may not otherwise have been able to afford.
There’s no need to wait months for the dress to be made and ordered in and there are usually only a few minor alterations needed.

3. A woman's wedding gown is a meaningful item. Any tips for women considering what to do with their gown or who would like to sell it but consider it a big step to take?
Brides will always have photos of themselves looking like a princess in their perfect dress on the day! Having a dress that you probably no longer fit into yellowing in your cupboard is not going to do the dress or yourself esteem any justice.
As we all know, in reality the dress will never be worn again. It’s the age old story that people plan to have it altered or dyed, in my experience this rarely happens. Other than keeping it for your daughter to play with, it’s just going to gather dust and will disintegrate over time if not stored properly.
There are lots of brides for whom their dream wedding dress is quite simply out of reach financially. It sounds corny but giving someone else that same feeling you got when you stepped into your dress for the first time is priceless.
Some brides feel that they want to keep the dress for their daughters, but really in 25 years time don’t you want to share the experience of taking your daughter shopping for her own dream dress?

Jen's mother-in-law created this lovely cake featuring a top-piece of all coconut and mini-cakes of vanilla and chocolate swirl.

The cake was prettily displayed amongst chocolate strawberies and other delicious desserts on a sweets table guests could serve themselves.

That is the question many brides ask themselves. The options are endless, whether your style is traditional or you want something more unique to suit your personality and of course your dress.

I personally went very classic and simple with a very long, very fine french tulle as my dress was quite detailed with all the ruffles.
Traditional with a twist is a great compromise, like the veil below which has been accented with gorgeous feathers.
Your dress designer is the best person to give advice on the style of veil, headpiece or hairpiece which to complement your gown.
