Paper Lantern Wedding And Party Decorations

Paper lanterns are a great way to create a romantic, softly lit space at your wedding reception. Choose colours that complement your theme or create a stunning vignette over the cake or wedding table.

The best bit is Paper Lanterns are inexpensive, easy to find and come in a vast range of colours and patterns.

I hope you find the below images inspiring. I am thinking of having a dinner party and stringing lanterns above the dining table to create a pretty and intimate space.

Style an outdoor bridal shower or luncheon with pretty colourful lanterns. So simple yet they create a chic party atmosphere.

Australian online store, Pink Frosting stock a range of inexpensive, quality paper lanterns in different shapes and sizes.

Monday's Muse: Mad Men

Given that I am watching the Mad Men series at every given moment, I couldn't help myself but feature the show as today's muse. The ladylike old-school glamour of the Mad Men women and the sharp three button suits of the men has captured the hearts of audiences and fashion designers alike.

Set in 1959 and then into the sixties, the formal, glamorous style is one that can easily provide inspiration today. To avoid looking like you are stuck in a retro theme, pick just a few elements. A matte red lipstick, a full skirt to mimic Betty Draper's girlish style, a modest neckline, a strand of pearls or a cinched in waist.

The fashion of the women of Sterling Cooper, a mix of pencil skirts, buttoned up cashmere cardigans and a strand of pearls, made complete with a matte red lip has had me swooning. Joan is of course in a class of her own, single-handedly making curves fashionable for the noughties!

Beautiful Floral And Fruit Centrepieces

It's not just floral centrepieces that can bring a colourful, fresh feel to your wedding, as evidenced by these stunning table centrepieces.

Selected fruits and vegetables, sometimes in conjunction with flowers look wonderful as well as being a unique choice.

This is my favourite; the draped branches and fresh peaches create a beautifully colourful and rustic feel.

Fresh fruit makes a delicious and thoughtful gift for guests, particularly refreshing berries or a pear on a warm Summers day.

Citrus fruits work well in Winter and are also a favourite in my own home as they look fantastic and don't break the budget.

Pay attention to what's in season and you can't go wrong; peaches, pears, cherries, berries look great and if guests get peckish they will be a tasty treat. Artichokes and mini-pumpkins look fantastic and like apples are quite hardy and will last the day.

A Woodland Wedding in Brooklyn

Laura Normandin's beautiful butterfly bouquet and woodland wedding caught my eye in the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. Little wonder, as Laura is an artist was formerly the crafts editor for Martha Stewart Living.

Laura's exquisite taste and eye for detail is evident in every aspect of her stylish wedding day.

Laura and Ben's wedding celebrations took place at Picnic House in Brooklyn's leafy Prospect Park, a place that already had special significance to the couple.

A barbecue style reception followed the heartfelt ceremony which was attended by 130 family and friends.
Laura's crafty touch was evident at every turn, having been part of the design of almost every aspect of the day; the place cards, invitations (including calligraphy), programmes, potted centrepieces and the favours of pressed butterflies, leaves and flowers.

Laura's
gorgeous butterfly bouquet was lovingly created from silk and feathers, as well as the crown flower-girl Logan wore.

Katie Hatch, friend and style editor at Martha Stewart Weddings also took nature as her inspiration with the skirt on Laura's dress reminiscent of flower petals.

Their gleeful getaway on 'Just Married' bicycles was reflective of the couple's lifestyle as they often cycled at the park.
